The Arduinos are popular with the Digital Arts and New Media students, and one of the Computer Engineering classes now uses Arduinos. (Different CE courses use different microprocessors—it is considered an advantage for the students to have had extensive experience with several different microprocessors.)

It isn’t standalone, but it plays nicely with both WIndows and Mac OS X.
